BOOSTIN' NUTS
While working at Organic, I was part of the "Ideation" team. Our role was to generate concepts that drove projects across the agency. While the team was developing a micro-site (remember micro-sites?) for the Jeep Liberty launch, I came up with this idea of an 8-bit video game featuring a squirrel stealing nuts. I figured out the gaming interface, designed an overarching look for the game and sprites, then turned it over to the Jeep team to execute as part of their micro-site. Here is the awards show submission write-up: Boostin' Nuts began as an 'Easter egg' within the 2008 Jeep Liberty launch site -- a secret goodie meant to reward curiosity clickers. But after this ridiculously simple 8-bit arcade game got over 50,000 plays as a hidden link, we couldn't help but spin it off as a Facebook app to see what would happen (see screen grabs). Fans can now keep track of their friends' high scores and throw down challenges as only you can on Facebook. To date, with ZERO paid promotion, the Boostin' Nuts game has been played over 100,000 times, with an average of 33 plays per person. Now that's nuts...
